Deadline for Poinsettia Sales extended!
Get your final numbers to your den leaders by Monday 11/18/08.
If you haven't already, let your den leader know how many plants you've sold so far and an approximation of how many you plan to sell.
Poinsettia Sale- Very important!
This event generates about 75% of our income for the Pack which funds things like the Boy's Life subscriptions, Pack events (subsidies) and entertainment, books, neckerchiefs, slides etc. In almost all other Packs, all of these are additional costs to the boys. The district encourages multiple fund-raising events over the course of the year, but for us, this is our only fund-raiser.
One issue we are facing this year, is that our wholesale plant cost has risen by $1.00 per plant, so we need to sell more plants this year to make the same money.
This year, there are two different ways to approach this.
1) Commit to a certain number of plants, and on Saturday, December 6th and Sunday December 7th, have your boys sell the actual plants. Some families did this last year, and found it was much easier, and less time consuming.
2) The traditional approach of going door to door using the attached sheet, taking orders and collecting money, and then just delivering the plants the weekend of the 6th and 7th.
Once again, we will be awarding a new Cub Scout pocketknife (different type than any previous year) to every boy who sells at least 25 plants. For 50 or more plants, the knife is upgraded to a multi-blade camping pocketknife.
This is a great exercise for the boys in goal-setting, sales presentation skills as well as making a contribution to a not-for-profit group that they area part of!
Details: These gorgeous plants (Wagner's Greenhouse) are $13.00 each (about $1.50 less than buying them in the Wagner's store). Orders are due Monday, November 10th. Plants will be available for pickup at Christ the King Friday, December 5th, from 4:00 until the Pack meeting (Bingo).
